How-to guides
Find new companies
Start from filters or your own website — sourced candidates with likely decision-makers, reviewed before they join.
Your universe doesn't have to start from a purchased list. The Prospector finds new companies that match filters you choose — the way you'd search LinkedIn by geography, size, and funding — but every candidate arrives with sourced evidence, and nothing joins your universe until you say so.
- 1Open the ProspectorAccountsFind companies (the telescope button).
- 2Describe who you're looking forIndustry / sector (e.g. “B2B SaaS”), optional keywords (e.g. “hiring SDRs”), then the hard filters: state, company size, funding (raised ≤ 6 months ago / has taken funding / prefer bootstrapped), and how many to find.
- 3Let research propose candidatesThe search runs as a research job — a couple of minutes. Each candidate comes back with its website, location, size, the sourced evidence for why it matches, and 1–2 likely decision-makers: a named person when a public source names them in the role (with that source linked), otherwise the title to look for. Companies already in your universe are excluded automatically.
- 4Pick who joins the universeTick the ones you want and add them. They become normal accounts (counted against your plan's account limit) with the prospect search recorded as their source — and the decision-makers land on each account's buying committee (named people as Needs Verification contacts with their source, titles as role-based targets). Research and score them like anything else.
- 5One more click and they're being emailedThe done screen counts what was created — and when a sequence is running in the workspace, offers Start emailing them: one click adds every company you just added to that sequence, first email on the way. (Skip it any time — they're normal accounts either way.)
Proposals, not facts
Start from your website
Not sure how to phrase the filters? At the top of the Find-companies dialog, paste your own website and hit Suggest filters: AI reads your homepage (plus a page or two like About or Products), works out who your customers are, and drafts the industry, keywords, and company-size filters for you — with a one-line summary of what it understood, so you can correct it before searching. The same analysis powers the new-workspace wizard: paste your site there and Set it all up for me drafts all four onboarding answers and a first read of your go-to-market — positioning, value props, an elevator pitch — builds the workspace and its starter email library, then drops you straight into a pre-filled company search — website in, reviewed account list out.
Cost, plainly: analyzing your website is free (rate-limited); the company search itself uses one instant research, and spills to the free overnight lane when the month's allowance is spent.
Find companies like one you love
On any account page, the telescope button runs a lookalike search: it opens the Prospector pre-filled with that account's industry and a similar-companies keyword, so one good customer becomes a list of candidates shaped like them.
Looking to filter companies already in your universe by the same attributes? Use the state / size / funding / fit filters on the Accounts screen instead.
